This Saturday the 27th of July saw RAKSHA'S final show performing together, after a 5 year run the band has decided to go their separate ways. Playing to an absolutely packed out Jack Rabbit Slim’s the band had a very fitting farewell for all the amazing shows they’ve played together over the past few years. The first support act helping send of RAKSHA was the amazing TASHI. Led by multi instrumentalist Tashi Hall, the full six piece band put out a fun blend of upbeat alternative pop/rock with some very funky basslines throughout. With a couple of slower songs thrown in to provide some variety, TASHI kept the audience on their toes and very engaged when they brought the bangers back out. Definitely keep an eye out for TASHI, guaranteed to entertain and liven up a venue.
Next up were local indie pop/rock legends Young Robin. The boys as always brought a lot of energy to the stage, getting the whole crowd dancing along throughout their set. Young Robin really brought the party vibes along to the gig making sure everybody was as ready as they could be to give Raksha the best send off possible. Make sure you keep your last weekend in September free for their upcoming single launch which promises to be an amazing evening. And finally we had a very bittersweet moment as RAKSHA came on stage to play their last set together. The set was a very good memento of all RAKSHA had to offer as a band, with their talent being very much on show throughout the set. All 6 members got time to shine throughout the set; Ethan on piano rocking off a few amazing jazzy solos, Clint on bass holding it down throughout the set with a couple of seriously impressive bass fills, Connor as always absolutely shredding on lead guitar, Josh filling it out with some silky smooth backing vocals and rhythm guitar, Jarrod providing some tight drums and Amber filling the stage with her overwhelming presence and energetic vocals. The set even included a mid-set costume change for Amber and it was obvious to see just how much fun they were all having together. It will be sad that we won’t be able to see them all perform together again, but keep an eye on these amazing musicians as they move onto new projects sure to entertain. Amber, Clint and Josh are creating a new band Cherry Jane, Ethan is working on his own project Baka Gaijin and Connor is performing with J.F.K and Francis Foxx. Reviewer - Gerard Kinsella
