Mt. Cleverest shook Mojos on the weekend in celebration of their latest single 'Frank Ocean'. Yet another pumping single from this unique Perth band that will leave you wanting more every time.
Mt. cleverest climbed up and out to Mojo’s Bar for the release of their spanking new single ‘Frank Ocean’ off their upcoming E.P and they sure know how to throw a bash, these wild guitars keep calling me back! I want to go to the bar but these tunes have us all captivated!

From the get go Mt. Cleverest launch into a solid swinging tune to open their set, smooth groove, we could be on a beach chilling easily, these catchy hooks have my head bobbing immediately, melody hooks for days. Lead vocalist Christian Mechler’s flow is smoking, Mt cleverest are rocking the boat, stellar opening track for the set and we are all ready for more.

Ramping things up a little with some fast moving guitars allow plenty of room for Mechler to expand lyricaly and stylistically on their third song of the set, with his unique half rap half singing style that is a breath of fresh air in the Perth alt rock scene at the moment.

‘Frank Ocean’ is a pretty strong tune in its own right, I particularly like the melow intro with a cali vibe that ramps up at a good pace into an outbreak of guitars and drums that seem to fill the room with pure energy at one point, the cool breakdown towards the end is set to totally lure you into a dramatically rhythmic finale turned the vibe inside Mojos Bar electrifying.

With national and international radio spins, Cleverest had their track ‘Money’ voted as the number 5 song of 2018 by 10,000 West Australian radio listeners. With this kind of track record, I am excited to see how far they can take it with Frank Ocean.

Cleverest at one point have me thinking Red Hot Chilli Peppers are on stage with their impressive, inspiring and uplifting bass and guitar driven rhythms and well placed drops. Then there's this drummer, Gab Nash, absolutely killing. Not just keeping time but adding an element of class well deserved for a band of this calibre. Cracker of a show in my books, well played Mt. Cleverest!

Last of all I can't forget to mention Reefeater! With their punk heavy vibe this high octane trio are full of beans, jumping around like jumping jacks! Good show, lots of energy and good drops, definitely be on the lookout for these three near you soon.

I had a few questions for drummer Gab Nash before the show;

So Gab, if you had to climb Mt cleverest what essentials would you pack?

A note pad, a pen, a flash pencil to write the notes obviously, definitely a camera of some sort, just to capture the view that I would be seeing when I reach the summit of that mountain, I’ve been dreaming about it and I cannot wait to see that come to reality!

What's your favourite, cats or dogs?

Ooh thats so hard… dogs because there more playful and they  give you love no matter what, but cats too because of their personality you don’t have to give them attention all the time.

And lastly, If you hear the name ‘Graham’ do you automatically assume they are old?

Haha, yeah kind of I mean, when I hear Graham I think of one of my uncles or a friend of my Dad’s,,, in his 60’s has maybe one grand kid and a couple of kids, has his life sorted but It's like he’s a hell chiller dude y’a Know? Grey ham, ham must be old to be grey.
