After stamping his mark on the Perth scene with single ‘Cliche’ earlier this year, Tesoro carries on his stride with new single ‘Dreams’.
Before going by his stage name Tesoro, the musician was active within the Racka Chachi Collective, releasing solid hits as a part of the group. Even though he is now a solo artist, he has never lost his teamwork morale especially when it comes to his roots. In his Triple J biography, he talks fondly of making music with his older brothers and that he continues to do so even today - he writes and produces his music whilst his older brothers engineer, mix and master it for him.
Like many musicians, inspiration was easy to find but finding ways to make his creative vision come true where a bit difficult with Tesoro was younger. In the present day, however, the producer is confident in his sound and believes that his material released as a solo artist reflects this. I can’t say I can contest this, especially since his win of the Emerging Artist Award at the Nannup Music Festival and headlining for WAMFest as part of the Racka Chachi Collective. His new single, ‘Dreams’ serves a purpose in exposing his musical talent and own personal sound - this way fans can have a clearer idea of what Tesoro’s vibe and range is. He draws inspiration from artists such as PARTYNEXTDOOR, The Carpenters and Timi Yuro and his genre merging is impressive as it is reflective of his talent. This song is lead by dreamy synth swells and catchy percussion; similarly described as “spacey alt-RnB to 90’s house pop”. The musician mentions how the idea for this piece came in a dream, “heard in full like a message from his subconscious”. ‘Dreams’ is an eclectic mix of genres that you don’t want to miss. His song is bound to “guide [you] through the dreamscape”! Crystal Moonsamy
