Indie rock band hailing all the way from Kalamunda, Dolce Blue, are swinging their way back into our hearts with new single, ‘Dream Catcher’. Following strong after the release of track ‘Summerwave’ in February, the band are fast approaching a discography that reflects their dreamy emotive sound.
When it comes to Dolce’s Blue songs, the first thing that comes to attention are the descriptive and emotionally driven lyrics before you’re hit with the catchy guitar riffs, foundational bass and flurry of synths. This becomes no surprise when you find out that they take a lot of inspiration from a wide range of artists like the Black Keys, Lana Del Rey, Mac Demarco and Joy Division. Anya Harris of X-Press comments on the band chemistry - “[...] the four showed with ease their ability to naturally move together.” If you take all of this into consideration, it all becomes a clear picture as to how these four high school friends forged such a unique combination of emotive songwriting and instrumentation.

‘Dream Catcher’ was recorded and produced by Michael Strong and released through West Australian music label Blue Grey Pink on July 22. The track speaks to the experience of “[reflecting] on the bad times and things you were fine not thinking about until someone had to bring them up.” Vocalist Veronica expands on this; “Most of the time I write about running away. This song is no exception. It's about living with all the things that bother you, things keeping you up at night, shitty people not being accountable for their actions. For the most part you can forget about it, run away, distract yourself, but all it takes is for your parents to call you up to say they saw your ex while you’re on your way to an exam, or that one asshole shows up at a gig, and now you can’t shake it…”

Make sure to give this tune a listen below!
