Local legends Young Robin have their first release of 2020 slated with a banger in ‘Lost’. Taking their signature ‘tropical indie’ sound in new directions, they’ve brought in some more synth-based and diverse electronic sounds to add some more layers and lushness to their already beautiful sound. With soft swelling synth pads on top of their driven and reverby guitars, Young Robin maintains their upbeat dancing energy on their new track while still exploring new directions.
‘Lost’ is a dance-floor ready tune, taking influences from an eclectic mix of sources, including Snarky Puppy, Northeast House Party and Frank Ocean. The single is a move away from their previous ‘happy sugary sounds’, with introspective lyrics and the electronic elements, Young Robin are kicking it up another notch with this release.
“It’s about self-reflection, It’s an inward look at our hypocrisy and the importance of self-awareness and self-assessment in times of judgement.” - Lead Singer Jed Begho Recorded with producer Andy Lawson at Debaser Studio (Tired Lion, Death by Denim), an environment that allowed the boys to bring out the most of their new track. “Any time we're with Andy we're always encouraged to try new things and get experimental and that brings out our creativity,” says Jed. “With this song we delved more into synths and diverse electronic sounds, while keeping it guitar driven but still dancey. We're all really happy with this one!” Come and celebrate the launch of Young Robin’s new single ‘Lost’ at The Bird this Saturday. With one of the best live shows in Perth make sure to get down early, as presale tickets sold out in under a day! Gerard Kinsella
