Starting off the year strong as ever, Margaret river duo, The Nomadics, return with single ‘Rebellion’. A beautiful blend of folk, blues and soul marks this release as one of many for the coming year and storms through our streams with a powerful message.
The Nomadics are made up of members Bec Schofield and Dave Mann who use this eclectic blend of genres and hip-hop inspired vocals provided by Schofield to produce a sound that is purely their own.
Now emerging with new single ‘Rebellion’, the pair confess how this song was made during the ‘Black Summer’ of 2020 when Australia was going through the worst fire crisis it has seen so far. The Nomadics used their dynamic sound to create a song that speaks on their frustration with the government during a time that the country needed them most, and Schofield candidly comments that these leaders [have] “taken up too much airtime and taken too little action.”
‘Rebellion’ is just a taste of what’s to come in the coming year for The Nomadics, as they plan to release their second album ‘Green Shoots From Dead Wood’ in April 2022 (which will also entail an album tour through WA with dates to be released closer to the date).
This release is accompanied by a compelling music video made by Kimberley-based filmmaker Mark Jones. Jones uses the juxtaposition of the group against footage of Australia’s black summer which in itself lends to an expressive contrast.
And if you happen to find yourself down south this coming February, make sure to catch The Nomadics playing gigs at Bridgetown Pottery (Feb 5), Six Degrees Albany (Feb 17) or at House Concert Denmark (Feb 18).
We are ecstatic to premiere the music for ‘Rebellion’ down below, so make sure to watch!
