Indie-pop band, STAPLETON, come rushing back onto the music scene with new single ‘Colour In Your Cheeks’; said to be the band’s “most ambitious release yet”.
The five piece band hail from Perth, consisting of members Jon Stapleton (Vocals/Keys/Guitar), Sofia Zaninovich (Vocals/Keys), Gus McKenzie (Guitar), David Chidgzey (Bass) and Sam Newman (Drums). The band was formed in early 2020 and despite it being just over a year of releasing music, STAPLETON has made a name for themselves in Perth, playing many a sold out show at popular venues such as The Bird, The Rosemount Hotel and Mojos.
Leading up to the release of their latest single, STAPLETON had received a lot of love on previous releases, such as their preceding track called ‘Wishful Thinking’. Around the Sound describes it as having a “chorus like a shot of palpable adrenaline.” Declan Byrne of Triple J also jumped on the love train, rating the track at 4 stars and commenting, “[this is] catchy indie folk from STAPLETON that really gets your feet tapping and those dual vocals work so nicely. The big sunset guitars to end were unexpected but they gave it a big ride into the sunset type feel.” Byrne was such a fan that it resulted in the band being played on Triple J during the Home and Hosed show earlier this year! Amply showing that they are a force to be reckoned with, STAPLETON are aiming for the stars and released new single ‘Colour In Your Cheeks’ - a track built upon “big guitars, big synths and a full dose of ‘No, don’t do that’ energy.” This is only a precursor for material that they are sure to follow up with as their colorful music takes the Perth indie pop scene by storm.
