Coming in hot after their recent release titled ‘Mamma Always Told Me’ earlier this year, dynamic hip-hop duo Otiuh are bringing summer vibes back with new single ‘Sundown’.
The duo consists of members Cesare and Jahmeil who hail from Perth, taking inspiration from artists such as Outkast, A Tribe Called Quest and Run the Jewels (influence which you can definitely hear throughout their musical discography till now). Otiuh anticipate the release of a new EP coming out sometime later this year - but not before they release a few hit singles!

‘Mamma Always Told Me’ comes first in line, being released earlier this year in March. The song was rated highly by Triple J hosts Dave Ruby Howe and Declan Byrne, saying “plenty of steez, plenty of bounce” and “Otiuh [is] in this type of zone where it’s hard but funky too.”

Following on from this success, the duo are back with the single ‘Sundown’. They describe this track as “the soundtrack to sipping wines with your best friend as the day turns to night.” This song is meant to “[appreciate] the ordinary'' and this is reflected in the slo-mo funk instrumental and improvised melodies. Built from archived verses and freestyle hooks, the duo have created an air of fusion - mixing Latin percussion samples with live guitar, bass and trumpet (courtesy of bandmate Will Johnson). The pair are continuing to explore their versatility within the studio and on stage, but this song still sees Otiuh at their best - “loose, poetic and full of ‘joie de vivre.’”
