Back again with a fresh, electrifying new project straight from band member Jack McEwan’s songwriting brain, the Psychedelic Porn Crumpets present ‘Bubblegum Infinity’.
The band are riding high off of the success of award-winning album ‘SHYGA! The Sunlight Mound’ with honourable mentions on the ARIA Album Chart, ARIA Vinyl Chart, AIR Album Chart following almost immediately in step. Since the acclaimed album release, it has garnered the project much airtime on radio and support through playlists on big streaming platforms such as Spotify, Apple Music, triple j, BBC Radio 1, Radio X and more! Mixdown Magazine summarises PPC’s sound perfectly; “the sound reiterates an upbeat mood, as if placing the listener into the position of bliss only achieved through the substances it mentions.”

‘Bubblegum Infinity’ is an interesting release for the band, as it steps away from the signature sound the members have curated but still seeks to show their audience what they are capable of.
Why did you decide to release ‘Bubblegum Infinity’ as a teaser of your upcoming album ‘Night Gnomes’?
It was a nice little summary of what's to come on the record. The album changes in style a lot but Bubblegum still felt like it had a bit of everything.
McEwan goes on to explain the creative process behind the upcoming album; “The process for this album was a continuation from Shyga! I stepped up a few recording techniques and tried to hone in on the production side of things a little more, gave my mental train a fresh lick of paint and tried to make the album step up in quality from the previous four releases while still holding onto that ‘crumpet’ approach to songwriting.”
Can you explain what the ‘crumpet’ approach to songwriting involves?
Usually a lot of loud guitars and crash cymbals. We try and change it up with each album, I'd never wanna get complacent with our sound so moving forward and trying new ideas always seems to keep things fresh.
To accompany the single, PPC have also released a music video created with the help of their friend, filmographer Tay Kaka. The band had a lot of fun playing around at a pop-up theme park to create the chaotic visuals they wanted alongside the song.
Any memorable moments from the film shoot for ‘Bubblegum Infinity’?
Luckily there was a pub right next to the funfair so it was a great day of filming. Easiest video shoot we've had to do. I hadn't been on a ride in yonks so most of it was quite memorable, felt like a child again.
‘Bubblegum Infinity’ is only a taste for what’s to come, with the full studio album ‘Night Gnomes’ planned for release in April of this year. The release will also coincide with the band’s return to touring around Europe and the UK this coming August. McEwan reveals what the album ideation centers around; "A lot of the album is about trying to work out what the F#@! is going on, in general life and obviously the period of time we've all found ourselves dormant in for the past two years. I started reading a few quotes from philosophers because, hey! They might know what's going on, but mostly it was a bunch of cleverly worded gibberish that was drenched in self turmoil that thankfully, serendipitously, unbeknownst to me was the thing I found comfort in. That nobody has a clue what life is and we're all winging it as we go! Cheers, William of Ockham.”
If 'Night Gnomes' was a crumpet dish, what toppings would it have?
Lots of sherbet, some of those little Wonka hundreds and thousands things, coupla fizzy cola bottles and a shot of fireball.
In the meanwhile, make sure to listen to ‘Bubblegum Infinity’ below!
