PREMIERE: TRENT JEAN & MIMAH WANT TO KNOW IF YOU’RE ‘DOWN2RUN’ WITH NEW SINGLE

A song that began with a 3 part guitar line recorded 5 years ago, Psychedelic rock band Trent-Jean collaborate with “London’s finest” Mimah to release their new single together by the name of ‘DOWN2RUN’. ​

Trent-Jean is known in the local scene as a band that strives to defy in all aspects of their image. They describe their musical journey as ‘shapeshifting’ to eventually land in their signature psych-rock-hop sound. Around the Sound says, “this is an artist intent on either the sort of shapeshifting that was Bowie’s signature or tearing himself apart right in front of his audience.” 

The band’s last single release was ‘Illusions 09’, another Trent-Jean classic that only solidifies their psychedelic rock sound. Since then though, they took it back a few years to 2016 and built upon a short guitar demo that they had recorded at the time. Unabashedly, Trent-Jean confesses that this song was written about his then crush on a Canadian Heptathlete when he was on a trip down south in Margaret River.

After producing it further and writing their bit, they sent it off to Mimah, a London-based vocalist, to add her flair onto the track. Trent-Jean describes the process; “it took 1 night of hearing the Demo (of ‘DOWN2RUN), 1 x 45 minute Zoom Chat + less than 1 hour 4 Mimah to create, record and send her Iconic contribution to this record… truly an astounding Artist + simply, London’s Finest.” After this process, the track was sent off to Rob Grant at Poons Head Studios in Fremantle to get it ready for release. Rome wasn’t built in a day but somehow this duo managed to put an amazing track together in even less time!
