Four piece indie-punk band hailing from the northern suburbs of Perth, Sixth Avenue, are set to put themselves back on the local rotation with their new single titled ‘Satellite’.
Sixth Avenue has been active within the local Perth area since right around when the pandemic hit. This didn’t stop them from marking their spot in the scene, releasing single ‘You’re Wasting Your Time’, ‘Blood Nose’ and following up with EP ‘You’re So Temperamental’. The band takes inspiration from legends such as Moose Blood, Ceres, The Smith Street Band and you can hear this in the way they incorporate elements of garage rock and emo into their music.
Following the momentum from their last EP, the band is releasing ‘Satellite’ as a bit of a teaser for another upcoming EP to be released soon after. This song showcases more of the mellower and darker side of the band’s songwriting, but all the while still managing to create a headbanger lead by a catchy guitar hook and meaningful lyrics. To celebrate the launch of their new single, Sixth Avenue are having a launch party supported by Scream Mountain, Mixed Netball and Coolibah at the Indian Ocean Hotel on June 4. The band have supported Perth indie legends such as Pot Plant House Party and Scream Mountain, so you know they’re an act not to miss. Make sure you support this band by heading over to Triple J Unearthed and leaving an awesome review! Grab your tickets to the launch party here and make sure to have a listen to the single below!
