Following up on their EP release ‘Blue Sky Catastrophe’ at the start of the year, up and coming Perth alt-rockers Palo Alto are ready to launch their latest single ‘Daisy’. Starting fresh as Palo Alto at the start of 2019, the core of Angus McRobbie (Guitar/Vocals), Aj Hainsworth (Drums) and Brenton Adey (Bass) have been creating music together for years and with the help of Christian Meares (Guitar) and Mitchel Tinsley (Keys) they are ready to bring their large scale sound to the stage.
‘Daisy’ as a song formed around a main riff the band came up with whilst on a songwriting trip down south and after the decision to have mandolin in the riff the rest of the track came together pretty quickly. The song is about knowing that somebody you love is better off without you, and then trying to find a way to tell them that. The melancholic lyrics are contrasted with the driving drums and bright guitars and keys in a way that keeps ‘Daisy’ sounding hopeful and energetic.
Recorded with the help of the talented James Newhouse of Reel2Reel Recordings down in Bunbury, the band really enjoyed the ability to record their track where they came up with the idea for it. The band’s energetic performances have seen them play shows with local talented acts like Joan & The Giants, Tashi Hall and The Washing Line Economy. Palo Alto will be celebrating the launch of their newest single ‘Daisy’ this Friday September 4th with their first ever sold-out show down at The Aardvark! Playing alongside them will be local talents Good Grace, Brothr Bear and Indigo Walrus. Check out Palo Alto’s website to keep up to date on their latest shows.
