After spending most of 2020 lockdown self-recording tracks for their upcoming EP, My Shadow and I have released their new single ‘Justify’ along with another epic music video. Asparagus Soup will be joining them for a double single launch at The Aardvark this Friday November 27 to celebrate the release.
Written in the band’s early jamming days in 2018, ‘Justify’ has taken on many different forms as the band experimented in the studio. Lead singer of My Shadow and I, Jarrod Wheildon has produced, recorded and mixed ‘Justify’ with the help of guitarist Dave Petch giving them full creative freedom to release a track true to their own sound.
After the bands first single ‘Drugs’ was nominated for the 2019 WA Music Song Of The Year in the Punk/Hardcore category, the release of ‘Justify’ gives us plenty to get excited about. A string of releases are set to come from these 2020 recording sessions between now and early 2021, when we get to hear their full EP. With influences such as Jimmy Eat World and Song of the Year, 'Justify’ takes you on a trip back to the heyday of pop punk with heavy guitar riffs, big stadium drums and super-catchy lyrics, there is something about the track that just leaves you wanting more.
‘Justify’ is out now with fans already giving the track and music video love on social media. Check out the track and if you’re a fan of My Shadow and I, grab a ticket to their joint single launch with indie rocker pals Asparagus Soop as they take over The Ardy, joined by Crimea, Interflow, and Trydent for a loud and rocking good time.
