Just when you thought summer was over, Kat Wilson is planning on keeping the feel-good vibes going with her new single, ‘Cool’. A track we've had on repeat since the day it dropped!
Hailing from the northern suburbs of Perth, Wilson has built up her reputation in the local music scene over the past couple of years. Playing at events such as WAMFest, Fremantle Folk Festival, Nannup Festival, Fairbridge Festival and Blues at Bridgetown. Not to mention her acclaimed support acts for musicians such as Jeff Martin, Motor Ace, Datura4 (Dom Mariani), Russell Morris, Nathan Cavaleri, Dave Hole and From The Jam. Safe to say that when Wilson hasn’t been releasing new music, she has been quite the busy bee!
The skilled guitarist decided to release this new single on her birthday this year, acknowledging that this song is about an issue that we’ve all come across at some point or another in our lives. ‘Cool’ is all about leaving behind the vicious cycle of comparison and just celebrating everyday life - that includes accepting yourself as a cool person just as you are, nothing more and nothing less. The song goes on to showcase Wilson’s poetic lyrics that she often uses to romanticize the ordinary, set in front of some of her electric guitar skills that captured the hearts of many, including American rock musician Joe Satriani. Around The Sound describes her voice as “dreamy and ethereal […] sounds like summer, and Wilson has the lyrical sensibilities to put it to use telling the sort of observational stories that make you feel like she's singing about and to you.” Make sure to have a listen to the new single, ‘Cool’ linked below!
