Back from a short but sweet break, local band Green Pools are sailing back into your rotation with new single ‘Blue’ - a song sure to melt your winter heart as the rainy weather comes to an end here in Perth.
The band is made up of an impressive line-up of musicians; Tess Hutchinson (vocals, ukelele and piano), Joe Simich (guitar), Harry Love (guitar), Owen McGinnity (bass) and newest addition Elloise Walsh on drums! Green Pools is a band that explores the indie pop genre and likens their sonic flavour to that of The Middle East, The Middle Kids and Big Thief.

After the release of several singles throughout last year (‘Neighbourhood Hero’, ‘Middle Eye’ and ‘Mystery Charmer’) the band took a break from releasing music and took to the road instead! They supported a variety of Perth artists such as Noah Dillon, Approachable Members of Your Local Community, Last Quokka, Dulcie, Joan and the Giants, King Ibis and Ribs.

Now ready to show the world what they have in store this year, they have come back with ‘Blue’. This alt-folk inspired track was written by Hutchinson and Simich alongside Christian Peterson at Sundowner Studios who helped with production and mixing before being sent off for mastering at King Willy Sound.

Hutchinson shares the inspiration behind the song; “I started writing ‘
Blue’ before I headed off on a trip and I was absolutely exhausted before I even boarded the plane. I left my sleeping bag in the car, just had a big argument with my partner and I was all over the place. But as the trip wore on, I started romanticising the idea of homecoming and returning to the person you love - and all the things that make you comfortable in those moments - like a meal and a glass of wine with the person that knows you best. The song has one of my most honest sentiments about my relationship as it wasn’t in the best shape at the time: ‘we started where we parted and I’m still here.’ Long term relationships are so complex and it can feel like they go through various iterations. But if it’s the right person, it’s worth the effort.”

Make sure to listen to this sweet tune below!
