Following the announcement of their debut album Tracing Faces and the release of their new single 'Blur', local Perth indie-dreamers Great Gable share a track from their forthcoming album with 'I Wonder'. Fans will be able to join the boys in celebrating this new album in October and November as they go on the road for their biggest tour of Australia and New Zealand to date.
I Wonder is a lush and soulful experience, with deep dreamy layers and textures throughout. “The song is a snapshot of the first couple weeks of dating someone and not knowing how they feel,” says lead singer and guitarist Alex Whiteman of the track.
The track is the third single released from the album, following on from the success of their mesmerising and bouncy single 'Blur' which reached the #2 most played position on Triple J, and their addictive lead single 'All My Friends'.
“..Great Gable has spent most of 2019 making waves, spreading their cool melancholic sound across a multitude of incredible live shows.” - Tone Deaf
Great Gable were able to use the prowess and experience of producers Alex Heriksson and Matt Corby to take their classic sound to new heights on Tracing Faces. Recorded at The Music Farm in Byron Bay, their debut album tackles themes of love, vulnerability, heartbreak and mental health while being suspended in a dreamy and lush soundscape. “Recording at The Music Farm surrounded by nature definitely influenced the overall vibe of the album,” says bassist Chris Bye of the recording process. “Working with Alex Henriksson and Matt Corby was incredible, they are such legends. They helped us bring out the best in our songs and really inspired us,” adds drummer Callum Guy. At the tail end of this year in October and November, Great Gable will cover most of Australia as they perform shows in Brisbane, Perth, Melbourne, Sydney, Adelaide, Byron Bay, Wollongong, Hobart, Torquay and Maroochydore. On top of the Australian shows they will also be making the trip to New Zealand for additional shows in Christchurch, Auckland and Wellington. Accompanying them to open all of their shows is local legendary nu-soul R&B producer Jamilla. Melbourne based Velvet Bloom will be present for all of the Australian shows delivering her unique blend of jazz, pop and soul. Additional special guests to be announced in due course. Following the 2019 release of The Lazy Bones EP featuring singles 'I Swear' and 'Cool Mind Blue', Great Gables quickly amassed a large following of die-hard fans. Renowned for their hypnotic and captivating live performances, they’ve supported big Aussie acts like Ocean Alley, The Jungle Giants, Thelma Plum and Perth superstars Psychedelic Porn Crumpets as well as performed festivals sets at Groovin the Moo, Falls Festival and SOTA Fest. Pre-order their new album Tracing Faces out Friday August 7th and then catch the guys when their tour ends with a hometown show right here in Perth at the Rosemount Hotel on Friday November 6th.
